Contact Lens Exams From Our Hot Springs Optometrist

At Holt Eye Clinic, our Hot Springs optometrist provides the quality eye care that you and your family deserve. Have you been thinking about making the switch from traditional glasses to contact lenses? If so, then we recommend that you schedule a specialized contact lens fitting in our office. This is the best way to ensure that you’re a good candidate for contact lenses and that we can make the right recommendation for a specific type of contact lens that will suit your needs.

What to Expect From Your Contact Lens Fitting

So, what exactly is a contact lens fitting or exam? These are different than your “typical” eye exam that you may already come into our office for annually. A contact lens fitting is specifically for those who are looking to begin wearing contacts for the first time. Having a contact lens exam done in our office is important because this exam allows our optometry team to assess the health of your eyes and determine whether you have any eye conditions that will prevent you from wearing traditional contact lenses comfortably.

For example, did you know that having astigmatism in one or both eyes can prevent you from wearing regular contacts? Astigmatism refers to an abnormal curvature of the eye, which can make it difficult for regular contacts to fit over the eye properly and comfortably.

If you do have a condition that will prevent you from wearing traditional contacts, we can always make a recommendation for specialty lenses that will suit your needs. We carry hard-to-fit contacts, such as Toric lenses and gas permeable lenses.

The entire process of having a contact lens fitting usually takes about a half an hour.
